# Mod for Anbernic RG35XX+ USB-C Charging Many models of Anbernic's popular RG35XX Plus game console can only be recharged with a USB A to C cable, frustrating the literally dozens of people who care about such grievances. With a bit of soldering (and 2x 5.1 kOhm resistors) you can quickly* enable charging via a standard USB-C to USB-C cable. Note that this mod will remove the device's ability to power game controllers. I am not an electrical engineer, proceed at your own risk! ## Equipment Needed 1. Soldering pen with a fine tip 2. Screwdriver and small bits 3. 2x 0402 size 5.1k SMD resistors 4. Patience # Step 1 Use a screwdriver and a plastic shim, pry apart the device and expose the circuit board. You'll need to disconnect the battery, speaker, and screen ribbon cable to do so. Tip: use a plastic shim to pry open the tabbed enclosure after removing the 6 exterior screws.

Front of PCB. We'll be working in the red dashed area.

Rear of PCB. We'll be working in the red dashed area.

# Step 2 The charging circuit has several 0 Ohm resistors on it that we'll have to remove. On the rear of the board you'll remove (4) R0 resistors. Where shown in the image, bridge the contacts with solder or if you're feeling fancy, solder one of those R0s on. Lastly, solder one of the 5.1k resistors to the indicated pads. Basically we're replacing one of the R0s with a 5.1k resistor which is connected to CC1/2.

Replace resistors and solder bridges where shown.

# Step 3 On the front of the board, do basically the same thing. Remove 2 R0s where shown, bridge one connection with solder, and lastly solder on the second 5.1k resistor for the remaining CC1/2 line.

Replace resistors and solder bridges where shown.

# Step 4 Carefully check for shorts before connecting a USB-C cable and confirming it charges!

Success!
